CLASS POLICIES:

  • Class fee must be paid at time of registration.
  • Telephone registrations will be held for payment for one week.
  • Please get supply lists in advance. Most classes require some preparation.
  • Please purchase supplies at our shop. (This helps if there is a problem with how the fabric was cut and you need additional fabric!) Also, we suggested you do not purchase your class supplies until we are certain that the minimum number of people have registered for the class. Stop in one week before the class and we will be able to confirm the class status and assist you in picking out your supplies.
  • A 15% discount will be given on all fabrics, books, patterns, and notions for class projects.
  • If class is full, please put your name on the waiting list. *Waiting list people will be contacted first if class is repeated at a later time.

    CLASS CANCELLATION POLICY: Our refund policy requires that you cancel no less than 1 week before the class to receive your refund. No Exceptions. You will be notified 2 weeks prior to the class date if the class will be cancelled due to low enrollment.

    CLASS SKILL LEVELS -- WHERE DO YOU FIT IN?

    • Novice - You're completely new to the quilting scene. You have yet to learn how to use rotary tools to cut out your fabric, you're new to sewing with your sewing machine . . . you need to learn from "Step 1".
    • Beginner - You're comfortable around your sewing machine, can sew a consistent 1/4" seam and know how to use rotary cutting tools.
    • Intermediate and Beyond - You have made a quilt from start to finish but want to learn new techniques or perfect the techniques you have only learned from books.

    ONE SESSION CLASSES

    Paper Piecing “English Paper Piecing" (Beginner and Up)

    Would you love a project that is not only easy but very portable? "Grandmother's Flower Garden" using the English paper piecing method is the perfect choice! Learn the techniques for preparing and assembling your own "flower garden".

    Machine Quilting “Machine Quilting" (Beginner and Up)

    Learn the basics of machine quilting so that you can finish your own quilts. This class will cover stitch-in-the-ditch, stippling and meandering. You will learn to use templates and the proper feet for each technique. It's easier than you think to do on your own.

    Binding “Bindings" (Beginner and Up)

    Your quilt project has been quilted and now you're ready to finish it; but, you're not sure how to do a binding! This class is perfect for you!! You will learn how to make your binding, sew it to your quilt, make mitered corners, join your binding ends invisibly, and, hand stitch your binding to the back of your quilt.

    Wool Applique “Beginning Wool Applique" (Novice and Up)

    Have you always wanted to try working with wool but you don't know where to start? Or, maybe you've started a project but not finished it because it's just not coming out right? Join Patti and learn the basics of wool applique while making a cute Easter candlemat.

    Locker Rug “Locker Rug Hooking" (Novice and Up)

    Come learn the basic locker hooking techniques which will give you the skills to make wall hangings, rugs and much more. A starter kit containing rug canvas, a locker hook tool, string and fabric is included in the class fee.

    Memory Quilt “Memory Quilt Demo" (Beginner and Up)

    Are you thinking about making a memory quilt for someone special -- whether it's for graduation, a wedding, or an anniversary gift? This demo class will give you all of the information you need to create a unique and treasured quilt or wall hanging for that special someone. Learn how to design your own project as well as tips and tricks for completing a memory quilt they will cherrish.

    Pockets a Plenty “Pockets A Plenty Tote Bag" (Beginner and Up)

    You can never have enough tote bags - and you will want to make several versions of this bag! Join Patti H. and learn how to make this roomy tote bag. And there is no shortage of pockets with this one -- two generous pockets on the front and an additional ten pockets on the inside. Bring a bag lunch!

    Memory Quilt “Chenille Throw" (Beginner and Up)

    You'll want to make this warm and cozy chenille throw for your family room or bedroom. And you'll also be surprised at how quick and easy this goes together.

    Enjoy a good puzzle? You'll love this fantastic method of making tessalating pinwheels. Start with a few 5" squares, our plexi- ruler and you'll have a table runner or topper in a few hours. Pre-class sewing required; plexi-ruler included in class fee.

    Needleturn Applique “Needleturn Applique" (Novice and Up)

    In this class you will learn the art of needle turn applique. We will cover circles, points (inner and outer), vines and stems. A discussion on the correct tools to make this technique easier.

    Granny's Fan “Stop! Don't Grab That Pan Without Granny's Fan!" (Beginner and Up)

    Come learn a neat way to piece a traditional Granny's Fan while you make a hot pad (or two) to give to your favorite Granny (or Mom) for Mother's Day! Students will use the Granny's Fan pattern of "Foundation by the Yard" to create these traditional curved edge pieces . . . when you sew on the line . . . they work every time!

    Zippers “Easy Peasy Zippers" (Beginner and Up)

    Do you love totes and bags with zippers but shy away from these patterns because you don't know how to insert a zipper? Join us and learn that zippers are "easy peasy"! You'll learn how to insert zippers in bags and totes using Terri Atkinson's method to make an adorable little pouch. You will need to purchase either Atkinson Designs's book, "Big Bags, Little Bags" or pattern, "Ca$h and Carry".

    Chains of Love “Chains of Love" (Beginner and Up)

    Do you love a Double Wedding Ring but don't love the idea of curved or set-in piecing? Using the construction template included with your pattern, you will learn how to make a beautiful "faux double wedding ring" with no curved pieces or having to sew the "dreaded y-seam". Strip piecing and a modified 9-patch make construction simple. By the end of class you'll have enough blocks for a table runner or a good start on a throw or quilt!

    MULTIPLE SESSION CLASSES

    Prairie Braid Runner “Prairie Braid Runner" (Beginner and Up)

    Another quick and easy runner that’s perfect for the print that’s “too pretty to cut”! Students will learn how to use the Prairie Braid pattern of “Foundation by the Yard” for making a runner that can be made to any length you choose. If a runner is not something you can use, how about making a set of placemats instead! (Click on the photo at left to see full size quilt)

    It's In the Bag “It's In the Bag" (Beginner and Up)

    A great bag that's made from 5" charm squares (for a small bag); 8" squares (for a medium bag); or 10" layer cake squares (for the large bag). Purchased pre-cut bundles of squares, or squares precut by students prior to class, are used for creating these neat bags. A perfect project for using decorative thread and/or stitches . . . students customize the bags with added pockets for their individual needs.

    Crazy Quilt Tool Kit “Crazy Quilt Tool Kit" (Beginner and Up)

    Tired of going crazy trying to keep track of all of your smaller quilting tools? Well, here’s the class for you. Students will use the Crazy Quilt pattern of “Foundation by the Yard” for making part of the outside cover of this hand dandy tool kit . . . a great chance to use up some of your bits and pieces and you can also try out some of your machine’s decorative stitches along the way!

    Aunt Sarah's Scrap Bag “Aunt Sarah's Scrap Bag" (Beginner and Up)

    This charming quilt is a great way to use up all those leftovers you have stashed away in boxes; or, you might want to make it in a more planned "scrappy" look and use a specific color combination - blue, yellow and white for instance. During class you will be working on a "throw" size quilt.

    Jelly Roll Jacket “Jelly Roll Jacket" (Beginner and Up)

    Think 'green' ! Recycle a sweatshirt you no longer wear and turn it into this great, lightweight jacket. All you need is the sweatshirt and a jelly roll. During the class you will be given several options for finishing the jacket from the simple design you see on the shop sample, to adding sleeve cuffs that can be turned back, adding a front placket for buttonholes and buttons, or how about a prairie braid band at the hip and cuff! Note: If you choose not to use a precut "jelly roll", you will need to precut 40 - 2-1/2" strips before class!

    Radio Flyer “Radio Flyer" (Intermediate and Up)

    Trust me on this . . . This quilt is much easier to make than it might look. If you can make a snowball corner, and a half-triangle square, you’re set to go.(Click on the photo at left to see full size quilt)

    Civil War Miniature "Civil War Miniature Club"

    The Civil War Miniature Club will meet the third Monday of each month from 6:00—8:30 p.m. Learn a little Civil War history as you create miniature versions of Civil War era quilts using beautiful reproduction fabrics. We are excited to announce that Bonnie St. James, who is an authority on the culture of the Civil War era, will be joining us each month and sharing information about this turbulent time in our history. Kits will be available each month or you may choose your own fabrics from our wide selection.

    Civil War Block-of-the-Month"Civil War Block-of-the-Month"

    This Civil War block of the month quilt can be made with either a pieced or appliquéd center medallion. If you’ve participated in any of Becky’s previous blocks-of-the-month, you’re going to love this quilt. Begins January 15, 2010; kits will be available for pick-up the 15th of each month.










    Embroidery Club "Embroidery Club"

    Join us the last Tuesday of the month from 10:00 a.m. 'til 3:00 p.m. Learn basic techniques of embroidery and sit’ n’stitch with friends. Bring a bag lunch or we can order out! Please sign-up prior to the session you want to attend as space is limited.
